Canadian composer Christine Donkin's mysterious and imaginative work for piano 4 hands, The Bay of Rainbows, performed by The Meeks Duo. World premiere live performance!
Christine told us that one of her inspirations for this work was the idea of the unsettled sky: "when a rainbow appears, it is rarely the only interesting thing happening in the sky - there's also a lot of light/dark contrast what with blue sky, clouds, sunlight coming through in some places and not in others." Other sources of inspiration were the Hereford Mappa Mundi (medieval world map), and the evocative names that 17th century Italian astronomer Giovanni Battista Riccioli gave to areas on the moon surface.
