![FHWA Administrator and Michigan Governor Celebrate Completion of Second Avenue Bridge
FHWA Administrator Shailen Bhatt joined Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer to celebrate the completion of the Second Avenue Bridge over Interstate 94 in Detroit.
This bridge is not just new, it’s safe—much safer than its 70-year-old predecessor—for pedestrians, bicyclists, drivers, and everyone traveling on Second Avenue across I-94. The bridge serves as a “community connector” connecting the neighborhoods located on the north and south sides of Second Avenue near Wayne State University and is part of Michigan’s multi-billion dollar I-94 Modernization Project.
FHWA provided approximately $32 million in federal funds to help MDOT complete the project, including funding from the #BipartisanInfrastructureLaw. https://i94detroit.org/i94-project/advanced-bridges/second-ave-bridge/ #InvestingInAmerica [OPEN CAPTIONED VIDEO] FHWA Administrator and Michigan Governor Celebrate Completion of Second Avenue Bridge](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/XdeAnK3mB1c/mqdefault.jpg)
