Can an abandoned mine harbor a secret? The abandoned Scarlet Scorpion Mine hid a secret within itself that we were unaware of when we entered its collapsed portal and explored its labyrinthine tunnel system. Nick, Lethe, and I spent a couple hours wandering through this abandoned gold mine and finally squeezed past a tight collapse in a bend in the tunnel. Not too far beyond was the mine's secret that awaited our discovery. What was the secret? It was a very impressive, narrow stope a couple hundred feet long that extended upward and downward for hundreds of feet! We explored some branching tunnels off the stope and found some interesting artifacts here and there.
