Join Us for the Annual 2022 CCCA Online Lent Project
Amid these challenging times many of us still find ourselves unable to attend in-person services in our houses of worship. To help you stay connected, Biola's Center for Christianity, Culture, and the Arts offers a FREE online Lent Project designed to aid you in pausing each day to reflect on the meaning of the season. The sacrificial season of Lent is a time for us to purposefully go deeper with Christ through reflection, action, and renewal. It’s a time to realign our spirits and strengthen our dependence upon God. It’s a period of genuine repentance, of concentrated reconciliation with others, of fasting from all that distracts us, and recommitting our lives to Christ in love and service.
The 2022 Lent Project starts on Ash Wednesday, March 2 and runs through Saturday, April 23rd. Each day of the Lent Project features a Scripture passage, a devotional written by a member of the Biola community, a work of fine art, a poem, and a piece of music. This season we have chosen to focus on the Book of Psalms. As we journey together over the eight weeks of the Lent Project we will encounter wisdom Psalms, the penitential Psalms, Psalms of mercy and salvation, some of the Messianic Psalms, imprecatory Psalms, Psalms of the Passion, and finally resurrection and ascension Psalms. Our prayer is that in the midst of this challenging season, the Lent Project will help you encounter Christ in the Prayer Book of the Church and may our hearts and lives be transformed in that meeting.

Explore how the Holy Spirit sparked revival 50 years ago in the Jesus People Movement — and how he can set us ablaze again today. Hosted at Biola University on October 7–9, the Ablaze Conference featured plenary speakers, workshops, worship and a special reunion concert with musical artists from the Jesus People Movement.
Eddie Byun is an associate professor of Christian Ministry at Talbot School of Theology. He studied Speech Communication at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana where he experienced his calling into pastoral ministry. Upon graduation, he studied at Regent College in Vancouver for his Master of Divinity degree. After graduating, he began his full-time pastoral ministry and taught at Handong Global University in Pohang, South Korea. Afterward, he was led to Sydney, Australia where he founded New Life Worship. While in Australia, Eddie completed his Doctor of Ministry in Preaching at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. In 2008, God led Eddie back to Korea to be lead pastor of Onnuri English Ministry where he served for seven years. While in Korea, he also planted Crossway Mission Church and taught practical theology at Torch Trinity Graduate University. He is the author of IVP’s Readers Choice Award Winner Justice Awakening, Praying for Your Pastor, and Praying for Your Missionary. He is also the executive producer of “Save My Seoul,” which is a documentary on sex trafficking in South Korea. “Save My Seoul” won Best Documentary at the Asia-Pacific Film Festival.")

Benjamin C. Shin has served in the ministry as a pastor, parachurch leader and professor for more than 20 years. He is a graduate of UCLA, Talbot School of Theology and Dallas Theological Seminary. He enjoys reading, music, sports (especially the UCLA Bruins) and spending time with people. His vision and passion includes mentoring leaders, rebuilding churches and teaching the Word of God. He is married to his bride, Jen, and has two wonderful boys named Adam and Zachary. He currently serves as Associate Professor of Christian Ministry & Leadership and Director of the Asian-American Ministry track for the Doctor of Ministry at Talbot School of Theology in La Mirada, Calif.
