That nagging pain on the outside of your hip probably isn't bursitis. And if you are hypermobile, more stretching is not your answer.

Dr. Tom Walters explains why loose, bendy joints need strength and control rather than mobility, and how your muscles and nerves become the stabilizers your ligaments can't be. Then he gets into the one most women are never told about: ultrasound studies suggest around 80% of what gets labeled "hip bursitis" is actually gluteal tendinopathy, and he demonstrates the exact move to start rebuilding it. Because women's wider hips change the mechanics, this matters even more for us in the perimenopause and menopause years.

Strength is not the opposite of stability. It is how you build it.
