Tuesday morning I woke up to a message from Lion Babe saying I was a winner and I flew out the bed dancing—room to room, smiling like I was back in my 20s at the Double Door in Wicker Park. Pure joy.

In my submission, I told them who I am—a community activist—and how deeply I respect Jillian for being her own artist. Not chasing trends. Not trying to be anyone else. Just original, bold, and fully herself.
