Description: The video recording of RIC 2025 Technical Session: TH19 - Driving the Future of Transportation in a Changing Landscape of Advanced Fuels and Technologies. In this session, participants were engaged on the fundamentals of the transportation certification process, gained an understanding of the future landscape of transporting spent nuclear fuel, accident tolerant fuel, high-enriched fuel, and advanced nuclear fuel, and discovered how stakeholders were shaping the future of transportation safety and the benefits of international engagements. The session also covered how the NRC advanced in this area by adopting a risk methodology to evaluate a transportation package for a transportable nuclear power plant for domestic highway shipment (SECY-24-0062), and how the NRC prepared for the first shipment of this novel technology. This session provided an opportunity for participants to hear from stakeholders in the NRC, the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of Transportation, and international counterparts.
