The reason for making this was the simple fact that I couldn't find any SEGA Genesis / Megadrive remix on Youtube, although there was even a Tetris game for it.
Sure, the SEGA Tetris tune is pretty catchy, but the "original" theme a, a cover of the Russian song "Korobeinki", by the way, is the one, everybody knows.
This was made with LMMS and the Ultimate SEGA Genesis Soundfont and with a midi from www.khinsider.com.
It is only one of many possibilities, how it could sound.
Also, it's not on original hardware, but I'm pretty sure, it would be possible, because it doesn't have too many tracks.
The boxart on the thumbnail is from the very rare Tetris game for the 16 bit SEGA console.
