Here I perform some tests with a Canon J15ax8 B4 ENG lens on the JVC LS300 in 4K.
I'm coupling the LS300's Super 35mm sensor size and built-in ND filters with a smooth servo zoom, parfocal* focus, and constant aperture ENG lens. A great solution for filmmakers covering action, documentary work, performances, and dramatic work where a smooth zoom is needed during the shot.
I also compare the LS300's LOG, Cinema, and REC-709 gamma profiles.
* It looks as though the back-focus was a bit out. I had not re-calibrated it for this camera before shooting this video. But I wanted to get everything shot before the rain arrived here in Texas. So the lens is sharp at one focal length, but as I zoom out, the focus pulls forward. Calibrating the back focus properly on any camera will enable an ENG lens to stay parfocal (keep focus throughout the zoom).
