Every year on or around the birthday of Karl von Terzaghi, the Geo-Institute hosts Terzaghi Day, a celebration of the life and legacy of Karl Terzaghi. This year, join us October 2 for a conversation with special guest Gholamreza Mesri, who reflects on his career and how Karl Terzaghi's work influenced him. Reza is the third author of the seminal volume "Soil Mechanics and Engineering Practice" with Karl Terzaghi and Ralph Peck.
The Geo-Institute is a technical society with about 12,000 geotechnical engineers and geologists as members. Find out more or join at http://www.geoinstitute.org.

Our Terzaghi Day live stream is sponsored by our friends at Geopier.
On Karl Terzaghi Day, we honor the legacy of the father of soil mechanics—a discipline that underpins every structure we build. At Geopier, we carry forward Terzaghi’s pioneering spirit by delivering innovative solutions that transform weak soils into strong, reliable ground. Since introducing Rammed Aggregate Pier® (RAP) technology in 1989, Geopier has supported over 10,000 structures worldwide with advanced engineering systems. These technologies reinforce challenging soils—clay, silt, sand, peat, and uncontrolled fill—using patented methods that increase bearing capacity and control settlement, all while reducing costs by up to 50% compared to deep foundations. Geopier’s portfolio also includes Rigid Inclusion Systems and specialized solutions for rail and slope reinforcement, offering rapid, cost-effective stabilization for infrastructure and emergency response. Understanding soil behavior is critical to safe, sustainable construction. Geopier’s solutions embody this principle, providing engineers, contractors, and owners with tools that respect the complexity of the ground beneath us—just as Terzaghi envisioned.
