Terminator 2D: No Fate is an action platform game based on the Terminator 2: Judgment Day license. The game was developed by Bitmap Bureau, whose portfolio includes genre-related titles like 88 Heroes and Xeno Crisis, and published by Reef Entertainment.
Plot
Plot-wise, Terminator 2D: No Fate adapts the second installment of the Terminator film series, enriching the story with events not depicted there. The game allows players to take on the role of three characters.
In the present, players take control of Sarah Connor and a T-800 Terminator as they battle a T-1000, attempting to stop Skynet's plans to annihilate humanity. Furthermore, they are periodically transported to a post-apocalyptic future, where, as John Connor, they lead the resistance against the machines.
Interestingly, the game features several different endings, and the one they experience depends on their actions.
Gameplay
In Terminator 2D: No Fate, the action is experienced from a side-scrolling perspective. During gameplay, players primarily engage in combat against enemies, including both regular enemies and powerful bosses (led by the T-1000).
Enemies are eliminated using an arsenal of pistols, rifles, and shotguns. Although open combat is the norm, players also occasionally have to sneak behind enemy lines.
The list of levels visited during gameplay includes locations from the film (such as highways and prisons), as well as locations not featured in the film. Furthermore, the developers have recreated iconic scenes from the original, such as chases, selected fights, and Sarah Connor's escape from custody.
Game Modes
In addition to the story campaign, Terminator 2D: No Fate offers a number of other modes: arcade, endless, boss rush, mother of the future, and a training mode.
Graphics and Music
Terminator 2D: No Fate features pixel art graphics. The game is accompanied by a soundtrack featuring remastered music from the film and new tracks.
