This video shows how testing safety-belts to find their breaking point can be performed using Mecmesin's MultiTest 50-i force testing system. The MultiTest 50-i, is particularly suited to high force testing and can also produce compressive loads. It is capable of producing a tension of 50,000 newtons while recording up to 1000 measurements per second. Heavy Duty Grips secure the sample while the stand steadily applies the tension under computer control. A built in detector senses when the sample has broken, and calculations can be made in Mecmesin's Emperor software to determine, amongst other things, the maximum force and extension for each sample. Due to the high forces involved many safety features are built into the MultiTest stand and safety guards with an interlocked door are available to protect the operator.
