Pull the lower shelf then the upper shelf moves out synchronously.
It is an application of the slider-crank mechanism: blue crank, pink and brown conrods.
Compared with “Telescopic shelves 1a” the slider-crank mechanism is moved forwards and the runway of the lower shelf is made on the upper shelf so the box length is reduced.
