A 3 needle bind-off is perfect for seaming shoulders (or other seams) where patterning needs to match up perfectly. I use the first (standard) method when the resulting chain will be hidden on the inside of a garment. I like to use the second method when I want a seam design element on the right side. It leaves a decorative chain that lays flat with no purl bumps visible to the side. Let me know what you think!
