Even the Savior of the world had to learn the doctrine. In His youth, Jesus increased “in wisdom . . . and in favour with God”. His deep understanding was evident when He was found in the temple teaching Jewish teachers, and His “knowledge of the doctrine in the scriptures” later helped Him resist extreme temptation in the wilderness. This training video encourages Early Morning Seminary teachers to follow His example by seeking a deep, personal understanding of gospel truths before attempting to teach them.
In this video, you will learn how to:
Prepare Deeply: Recognize the importance of seeking to "learn true doctrine more deeply before you teach it".
Search for Counsel: Look carefully for what the Lord has said by taking time to "Search the scriptures and words of living prophets for explanation and counsel".
Live the Truth: Understand that intellectual study is only the first step, as "Living and applying the truths you study will invite the Spirit to teach you the doctrine in even deeper ways".
Invite the Spirit's Witness: Discover how your personal application of the gospel allows the Spirit "to confirm the doctrine’s truthfulness in the hearts of those you teach".
Reflect and Improve: Ponder what you can do right now to "improve your study of the scriptures and the words of living prophets".
