TD Jakes is still preaching the same troubling Word of Faith-style message, but this time there is something different — he honestly sounds sick and physically worn down. While I don’t rejoice in anyone’s sickness or weakness, it is important to still examine the doctrine being preached.

In this video, we look at how TD Jakes continues to promote ideas that sound very similar to Word of Faith theology: speaking things into existence, framing faith as a force, and placing too much emphasis on man’s words, declarations, and power instead of the finished work of Christ and the authority of Scripture.
The issue is not whether TD Jakes is talented, influential, or has helped people emotionally. The issue is whether what he is preaching lines up with the Bible.
The Word of Faith movement often takes biblical words like faith, blessing, favor, seed, and declaration, then twists them into a system where God is treated almost like He must respond to our words, our giving, or our level of faith. That is not biblical Christianity.
Biblical faith is not confidence in our ability to manifest outcomes. Biblical faith is trust in the living God, submission to His will, and confidence in Christ even when suffering, sickness, loss, and hardship come.
Yes, we should pray for TD Jakes’ health. Yes, we should be compassionate. But compassion does not mean we ignore false teaching. A preacher can sound weak physically and still be dangerous doctrinally. A man can be sick and still need to be corrected publicly when his public teaching misleads people.
The Bible calls us to test everything by the Word of God. Not by charisma. Not by popularity. Not by church size. Not by emotion. Not by how long someone has been preaching.
