The Broken Life Episode 32 - Cleaning a NASTY A/C unit...
Well, my July 4th holiday sucked... The air conditioning went out just at the beginning of a 3 day holiday weekend. I decided to see if a simple cleaning would bail it out (spoiler alert: it didn't) so I grabbed a camera and a hose and let the good times roll!
The ultimate resolution of this issue required a contactor to be replaced. I called in the pro's for that job since I rent this house and didn't want to risk potentially making a bad situation worse. For those of you at home looking for a "how to fix your central air conditioning" video, changing a contactor yourself is completely manageable by just about anyone and the part is very inexpensive. I discuss that a bit at the end of the video.
Also, I didn't want to bug the A/C guy and try to film him or anything and he took the old part with him (perhaps to give to the landlord) so you'll have to take my word for it as far as the ultimate solution is concerned.
