It's been a long strange trip, but finally, our Dell 3880, which was the cheapest brand new Desktop Dell I could order in 2020, is now fully upgraded and performance tested. The final results are pretty impressive.
It's now a fully customized build, but with budget minded components. The entire cost of this build was $1110 at the time of purchase, which is roughly the same price as what Dell would have charged for a machine with the same specifications, but with inferior hardware and highly inferior performance. To be completely fairly, add another $150 to the price for a budget keyboard/mouse and a Windows license. So, ~$1300.
