This is a doily I am currently working on in which Victorian sets and mock rings are used. Victorian sets are made of x number of the 1st half of the double stitch, followed by the same number of the 2nd half of the double stitch (in this case 4-4). It gives a "frilly" effect to the chain.
The other interesting thing about this doily is that it is all made of chains. The rings are not true rings but they are chains joined back on themselves. This means that you never have to refill your shuttle as nearly all the thread comes from the ball. You also don't have to keep winding and unwinding your shuttle as you work which makes for quicker tatting!
So I thought it might be interesting to make a video of this work in progress.
The pattern is from "Priscilla Tatting Book No. 2" which is an old book freely available online. You can find a copy of it here: georgiaseitz.com/public/pris2.pdf
