This is a WIP of the Yoshi's Island DS Any% TAS currently being made. I did this from scratch, saving 1 minute and 12 seconds over Taechuk's work. The biggest time saves are not having to switch to Baby Peach in 2-2, using the ball mid-air teleportation glitch in 2-4, going over the stage off-screen in 2-6, and entering the yellow ball pipe in an unintended way in 2-8; but also in general, optimization saved a lot of time.

This star was previously 1x, by backflipping from a sign near the switch star. And lowering 1 B Press to an half one takes time. Yes.
Its probably possible to do that star in 0 B Press on 1.0, but i hadnt thought of any strat for now, so I switched to 1.1
OMG this is THE hardest star Ive ever done. My strategy was to bring a sculttlebug to the platform after the stairs. In 1.1 and PAL, some ennemies will run straight into a wall or a edge even if they have not any position goal. Also, you will turn into a jump action when bouncing on ennemi, and you can hold B even before to jump high and hover.
The scuttlebug bring was not that hard : I just had to use Yoshis tongue to make the scuttlebug step the stairs. Once Im on the platform, I release him a precise position : A position I can easily bounce on him with.
There is a way easier method to get up the high platform, I can simply release the scuttlebug at another place, which can make me able to just slidekick and bounce to then ledge grab. Though, the timer would run out (on this version at least).
After that, I need to quickly get him off camera or he will jump. I do that by slidekicking and getting the camera behind me. Then, I take the Luigi cap because, after my discoveries about Luigi, only him will be able to land on the high platform for his fast jumps.
When I run on the switch, I do some kicks to keep the Y run speed and timer. I also need to get the camera quite off the scuttlebug or hell jump off. Im able with a precise angle to get on the sign, which is nice because then i can slidekick recover to the 2nd stair instead of ledge grabbing the 1st one. Makes me win a lot of time.
I just noticed that I can run onto the stair wall if Im being affected by the collision of the other big wall. Which is good, because the scuttlebug is on the other side.
From there, I load Y run since I need a lot of speed to slide against the wall. When Im against the wall, I bounce off the slidekick which makes my speed be 0, so I can redirect my angle to go over the scuttlebug. Though, I need to redirect again before bouncing on him to be able to jump at the right angle.
From there, I do a jump and a kick (which only needs a held B button).
After that, I need to deal with the Y run timer to keep it as long as possible, but still go at high speed. I cannot do 2 kicks, so I did 1 kick and then a slidekick. From here i can simply recover which makes me still keep Y run.
After that, the distance to the switch star platform is still too much, so I do one more kick, use the touchscreen to do a 0 speed run (still uses Y run timer though). And as soon as the distance is short enough, I run, kick, and kick again to take the star. The star was going to disappear 6 frames after I took it. Thats why this strat is TAS-Only.

OPEN THE DESCRIPTION :
Previously, this star was done in 5 B Presses by backflipping to get high for the 1st backflip. Credits to josh for telling me the idea of using a lakitu.
Lakitu seems to have a home radius that never moves. Hell never get out of his home radius by himself. And, if I lick him up with Yoshi, and spit out him out of its home radius, hell try to get back at it by flying straight into the center of its home radius. Though, by licking him up all the way into the cage, hell be stuck for a bit while trying to fly through the cage.
By doing frame-perfect movements, and getting the camera off him, Im able to make him stand still until I come into his radius or get him on camera in a certain radius. After taking the Mario cap, I make sure to not get the camera on the Lakitu. After stepping on the switch, I load some Y run straight into where hell be stuck, and after A LOT of attempts, Im able to bounce on him WITHOUT touching the fucking ceiling. And Im easily able to reach the top with 4 walljumps.

OMG i forgot that in the 150 star route we actually use Luigi here, if the speed is the same then hopefully it should sync. I find that star pretty good, I used the tricks to gain much speed and found the strat to slide to the yellow block. Almost all the TAS was done with the D-Pad because Touchscreen wouldnt save time in this case. Enjoy :)

OMG jai oublié que dans la route de 150 star on utilise Luigi ici, si la vitesse est la même ca devrait sync jespère. Je trouve cette étoile pas mal bien, jai utilisé les tricks pour gagner en vitesse et jai trouvé le strat pour glisser jusquau bloc jaune. Presque tout le TAS a été fait avec le D-Pad parce que le Touchscreen naurait pas sauvé de temps dans ce cas. Enjoy :)

That was a test TAS, I originally wanted to compare star cancel and no star cancel, but while TASing it I realised that star cancel was very long and slower. I still wanted to finish it though.
2nd egg RNG was bad. The Igloo could have been improved, but tbh fuck it. Also, I havent made the good screen layout because that takes too much time : encode is long, and uploading takes 3x more time. I really wonder how Ill upload a HD good layout 150 star full TAS.

I collect the star A-maze-ing Emergency Exit in Hazy Maze Cave in 0.5x B Presses. The B Press is required to hold the grate and move to the star thanks to that.
You cannot simply lick a scuttlebug and go through a door with it. The game will automatically make you swallow it because otherwise you would have an unloaded object into your mouth since the objects are always specific to the room they belong to.
So here is the detailed explanation of what I do in this video :
First, I go into the huge room with the red coins, and spit out a scuttlebug next to the wall. Then I perform a glitch that requires the black brick and that allows me to go out of bounds, and I carefully land on the seam with a slidekick. Then I bring the scuttlebug all the way to an invisible room. Why is it invisible, and why am I in the dark ? Well, thats because to save space in the memory and prevent lag, the developers made a room loading system so that only the room where you are in is loaded. But if you go to another room without going through a door, the room will stay unloaded, which means that there are only floors, walls and doors. There is not any object loaded when a room is unloaded. That takes in account the elevators.
So when I fall into a dark room (which is the room the developers want you to go through to take the star, with an elevator inside), Im able to do 2 things at the same time : I release the scuttlebug, but I also perform the Permanently Loaded Room Glitch : if you exit a room that was unloaded, it will load and stay loaded until you enter it and exit it again. That means I can safely go back to the red coins room, and the elevator room will still be loaded if I open an unrelated door.
But thats not the only room I need to keep loaded. I also need the Rolling Rocks room to stay loaded, or otherwise I cant take the star since it would be unloaded as its an object that belongs to that room. Remember that if I simply spat out the scuttlebug into the Rolling Rocks room and opened the door to load that room, the red coins room would unload, which means that the scuttlebug would unload too. So I take the Mario cap since its a lot easier to do seam walking with him. I perform the same glitch for the Rolling Rocks rooms, so that it stays loaded too.
For the last step I need to be as Yoshi, since its near impossible to lose a cap and stay on a seam. I make it all the way to the elevator room, but I need to make sure to land on the seam. That part was very difficult because landing on a seam is not as easy as you might think. First, even seam walking itself is extremely precise. But when you are falling fast, you will not be able to land half between a floor triangle and its edge. Luckily, I figured out that corners have a larger seam area where you can be fully over a floor triangle. After landing into the corner, I go to see the scuttlebug because I want to get up with him.
I get up the elevator with the scuttlebug. When Im at the highest point, I run onto the seam and go into the Rolling Rocks room without going through the door, which means that the red coin room (therefore the scuttlebug too) stays loaded. From there I simply spit out the scuttlebug, I do a slidekick recover and bounce on him while making sure he jumps to me so that i get the necessary height to get to the grate. From there I simply travel to the star.
Side note : You may have noticed that I released the B Button at the end to get out of the grate to take the star, but its also possible to take the star without releasing the button. All I need to do is continue holding the grate and go over the star, and ground pound to get out of the grate.
Side note 2 : Thanks to the Remote Interaction Glitch, this star is already theoretically doable in 0x B Presses on both versions, but the strat takes multiple centuries to do, so its better to do this 0.5x strat in a full BBC run anyway.

Ive been having lots of problems with syncing in WF, but after realizing I was able to fix the desync, my motivation to TAS came back and so this is what I have done for now ! By the way, the time looks bad compared to the star count, but its because weve removed 5 very fast stars in the basement at the beginning of the game.

OMG ! Okay, Im gonna explain whats going on. In SM64DS, the eel comes out a lot quickier than in SM64, and you dont need to go back up to make it come out of the ship. While the eel hasnt entirely come out of the ship, you cant get into the loading zone since there will be an invisible wall preventing you to enter.
But, totally by accident, I just figured out that you can be able to force into the corner and get pushed forward a little, making you enter the ship while the eel isnt out of it yet. That saves about 3 seconds on the star !
