Edit : I saved 24 frames thanks to the touchscreen and the camera manipulation.

This is a TAS of the volcano stars in LLL made for the 150 stars TAS. The strat is the same in both parts because I can longjump far enough to get the star Hot-Foot In Volcano. You can see, when I enter the volcano, then I landed on the little platform and performed a backflip. All i had to do is :
- Go out of the platform
- When you start falling, press down (or down-right)
- When you see Yoshi grabbing the pole, press : ^ + B + R
- Keep pressing Y and UP, and that's it !

Frames saved :
- 38 frames by using the super-velocity at the beginning instead of before the triple jump (thanks Really_Tall)
- 18 frames due to the use of the D-Pad after the triple jump (which make us running superfast
- 8 frames in the battle (i dont know why lol)
- 2 frames (not directly in the star) due to 1 less coin taken (2 coins instead of 3)
66 (64) frames saved IN TOTAL
Btw i hope i dont have to redo this star anymore lmao

This method uses the old rabbit grab, and is 4 frames slower than the method used in the current any% TAS. We were originally doing this method at first. Then Really_Tall found that it was possible to grab the rabbit earlier to the right side, and that leads to the result in the current any% TAS. Cool star, but annoying to TAS at the same time. The routing is very hard for when being outside the water, like for the red coins in the air, I couldnt do a sideflip to get the 2nd coin, and even if I could, I wouldnt do it since it requires a dive to get back on the platform. I also cannot jump to get the red coin and then get to the edge of the ship because I slide off it. The blue coins are sadfully in the air so I cant get them by just walking. Though, since Luigis jump speed increase faster than his walking speed, this doesnt make it bad. Also, to go over the last gap to take the 8th red coin, I could have double jumped and dive, avoiding ledgegrabbing, but its slower and requires a recover (which is totally bad in this case).
While doing this star, I discovered some things useful for quickturn. Basically, when landing from a longjump, or even just a jump, if you want to make the character being standstill, you need to not press any direction, so that the speed goes to 0, and then you press any direction for 2 frames, so that when you reach 0 speed again, youre standstill. But after a jump (for example) if you press a direction while landing and getting 0 speed, youre going to warp up to 16K. But with the touchscreen you can press an input that makes you warp up to 11K, which takes 2 less frames to get 0.
But I also discovered another thing : Instead of not pressing any direction, press the direction you want to face with the touchscreen, but by doing a 0 speed input. So that the speed will decrease, but you will turn at the same time. So that you can backflip as soon as youre standstill instead of pressing the direction you want to face for 2 frames.
Also, when landing from a kick, if you get 0 speed as soon as landing (by having different motion and facing angles, or by just pressing no direction), you can instantly turn by pressing the input on the touchscreen that makes you WALKING at 0 speed, and so Mario will turn instantly and you will be able to backflip (or do any other move you want to do).

How did no one think about this one lol. Note : I slowed down a lot here, so dont say its a useless trick because of my speed.
1st frame : Run forwards (Y and Forwards input)
2nd frame : Slide backwards (Backwards input)
3rd frame : Press nothing
4th frame : Slide backwards (Backwards input)
5th frame : Press nothing
And all that in a loop.
While sliding backwards, for 1 frame you will keep your current speed, and if after that you hold nothing, Mario will just come back into his running animation. You can also lose a Y run value only 1/2 frame. THOUGH, if you do that on the ground, so that your speed is over the running speed, strangely, your speed will alternate between 147 and 176 while doing the trick. (147 is running max speed and 176 is Y run speed). But it can probably be faster in some cases !
It is similar to frame walking in SM64, but it is really TAS-only here. It can end up being faster in some slopes, though we would need to already have the good facing angle while coming on the slope, since the trick makes you going straight forward.
This can as well be done on the ground, making a possibility of a Y run conservation if needed.

Meanwhile Scale the Mountain was needed to be TASed to do some tests for the 150 star TAS route, I lost my previous 1691 TAS, so I had to redo it for the tests. I came up with a better strategy to go up slopes which consists to longjump and do punches. The sky wallkicks were also done a lot better.

Side note : The kick at 0:50 is not done by pressing B, it happens because I pressed A in the air with slow enough speed, so it does a kick instead of a punch.
Side note 2 : Thanks to the Remote Interaction Glitch, this star is already theoretically doable in 0x B Presses, but the strat takes multiple centuries to do, so its better to explore for more reasonable strats even though they might need more B Presses, to prove that they are possible in such number of B Presses.
Previously, this star was done in 3x B Presses by doing 2 jumps to climb up the level normally.

OPEN THE DESCRIPTION :
I wanted to show people how would be a star cancel in a full TAS. It saves a lot of time in THI with the pipes, and this combination of those 2 stars is the most optimal and i think it makes it look good with 2 missions at once.
The race was done as fast as possible since Koopa will go 2x faster when you finish the race. While he is coming to the flag, I lure the giant goomba to make him stay close to the flag. I load Y run, and when its the right moment, I go straight into the goomba to lose my cap.
You have a 6 frame window every 12 frames to stay Mario for the game while losing the cap, which we want for Koopa to give us the star. While there is the 4 frame window of the cutscene, I move a little, and then stop. When my speed is 0, I redirect myself towards the star, and jump to do the star cancel.
This star cancel is very precise because you only have 2 frames to get the star and go into the loading zone at the same time. If you do it too early, you will land on the pipe. If you do it too late, you miss the loading zone even if you entered the pipe. After that, it is slidekick champ until the boss :p
The Wiggler boss was much harder than i thought. The first hit is easy, but the next ones required a lot of attempts to hit him as soon as possible, and land not late.
Again, would take too long to do the good video layout.
