Charles Hall says the tall whites never once came to teach him anything. There was no briefing, no classified document, no explanation. On many evenings they simply walked out to where he was tracking a weather balloon, stood ten or fifteen feet away without saying hello or goodbye, and left when they were satisfied - because what they were actually doing was letting new arrivals practise standing close to a working human being. Everything he knows, he says he had to reason out for himself.
That reasoning ability is the thread of this talk. He describes acing the Air Force enlistment tests, orders so classified they were locked in a safe rather than handed to him, and the morning two military policemen with a dog marched him in front of a general who offered five years in Leavenworth to whichever of them turned out to be holding the wrong paperwork.
Then he turns to the physics. Hall holds a master's degree in the subject and has copyrighted a paper he calls Hall Photon Theory. He argues the craft were never supernatural - no wormholes, no time travel, no hybrids - just built on physics Einstein never reached. He describes a double-hulled scout craft assembled on Earth from parts supplied by the US Air Force, with an estimated thousand miles of fiber optics packed between the hulls, and makes the point that molten fiber optics look exactly like the slag from an aluminium furnace that investigators once dismissed.
