When we discuss main characters, heroes, and protagonists, we often use the terms as synonyms, but we can separate them out to give us a bit more flexibility in how we think about the characters, their function, and how authors are using them.

This is the fifth video in a series about small, bite-size techniques and tricks that writers use and why they use them.
Some of these videos might be on things you already know about, and some might be new. But I had to start somewhere.
