OK! first of all i beat rebirth clocking in at 45 hours nearly on the dot, in 5 days. yes i worked a full work week too. yes i know please don't say anything. secondly thank you to my lovely husband kyle for mixing the voice overs for me. he is the reason they don't sound like shit. everyone say thank you kyle.

finally. finally. let me TALK here.

i knew, going in, that things were going to go off the rails a little bit. i'd accepted we were essentially in a time loop? or at least aerith knew the future. and i was so scared to hope but so, so hopeful. i still remember searching through countless forums as a kid trying to figure out if it was possible to save aerith. like, seriously, i am one of the many people her death has haunted well into adulthood, lmfao. so i was terrified, but also, i really wanted to believe. that "seven seconds" line, everything else that was changing, zack.... i wanted to believe it would be enough to save her this time.

and it was! sort of. somewhere. in some timeline. i actually gasped out loud when they showed masamune hit the ground away from her and then yelled NO!!! ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!!! at like 12:30 in the morning when it immediately cut back to her dead. like. that was top tier level cruelty. but knowing that she and cloud can still see each other? knowing that in some timeline, she's still alive and well? seeing her be able to manipulate the lifestream on her own, ALIVE? i am so excited to see where this goes, how this ends. i know we've figured out there's at least 5 timelines because of scout - i think there might be more, based on seeing some of the visions cloud was getting.

but more!!! importantly!!!!! CLERITH!!!!!!!! MY FUCKING OTP!!!!!!!!!! HELLO!!!!!!!!!! oh my GOD i was giddy the entire time. their little side quests?? "do they finally talk to you?" asking about the flowers!? THE CUTSCENE IN COSTA DEL SOL? HELLO? and please the GS date was just. so much. oh my god the tension!! and her confession at the end of the game ;A; the hand holding........the..... the "wake up".........the everything oh my god they are so in love with each other. they always have been ofc but they really really showed it here.

i have sooo much more i can say but i think i'm just gonna write some fic. and read some. and cry. a lot. i love them so much your honor. i will also edit something much cuter and happier with the wonderful date scenes from rebirth....but this song is just. so them. it's so. god. i love them. okay bye
