To enable economies of scale for new advanced reactors, including microreactors, the NRC is streamlining high-volume licensing processes to reduce timelines and support efficient deployment. The session discussed staff activities to optimize regulatory reviews for standardized designs, manage approval of multiple projects simultaneously, and ensure that innovative nuclear technologies could be brought online faster. There had been significant industry and market interest in the rapid, high-volume deployment of new technologies, potentially with deployment occurring within six months from site identification. This session provided a forum for interested parties to learn about what the NRC and industry had done in this area to achieve that goal.
