The enactment of the Accelerating Deployment of Versatile, Advanced Nuclear for Clean Energy Act of 2024 (ADVANCE Act), Executive Order 14300, and the urgent energy needs of the United States underscore the national imperative to modernize and expand the nuclear fleet. However, the path from policy to practice is paved with significant hurdles, ranging from limited global manufacturing capacity for nuclear-grade components, to evolving quality assurance requirements, to the need for new supplier qualification pathways. This session will feature a panel comprising vendors, applicants, government agencies, and related stakeholders to discuss the evolving supply chain landscape for materials and components essential to the construction and production of large light water nuclear reactors (LWRs). The discussion aims to explore the current landscape of sourcing specialized, safety related, long lead time, and often hard to procure items essential for LWR production. Each panelist will offer insights drawn from their sector’s experiences; identify bottlenecks; examine the root causes of supply chain disruptions; and discuss recent trends affecting availability, lead times, and quality assurance. The exchange of perspectives will help identify practical solutions to support ongoing efforts to uphold safety, reliability, and efficiency in LWR construction in the face of the evolving supply chain challenges
