Sit back, relax and enjoy as we travel between Australia's two largest cities on rail. The Sydney-Melbourne XPT is a regular train service that is served twice a day, with both a day and night service in each direction.

NOTE:
If you noticed that this video exceeded the usual 10 hours and 50 minutes of the journey, you would be correct. There were extensive delays throughout our journey, caused by multiple factors. One factor was the extreme heat that restricted our top speed to 90km/h across large sections of track, especially between Gunning and Albury. Furthermore, extensive signal failures added to the delay, where we had to stop multiple times to wait for the signal to clear. To add insult to injury, there was a points failure at Henty requiring us to reverse onto the platform. This led to a total delay of 2h15m upon our arrival into Melbourne. This comes to show how unreliable the regional train system can get. The delays also cut the recording short to North Melbourne due to lack of space and limited battery on the laptop I was using for transfers.
I do plan to retake the full journey of this service but it could until a remake is uploaded due to a busy summer.
