Thanks to the new timetable, tourists now have the option to travel to the Blue Mountains on a fast train skipping many intermediate stops usually served by Blue Mountains services. This fast service is 8 cars and is 24 minutes faster than most Lithgow services.
However, due to the large capacity of the train and the lack of passengers who use it, this services could fail and decomission in a new timetable.
The time it takes from Sydney to Lithgow on this service is 2 hours and 27 minutes, the same time it took for the Newcastle flyer but the average speeds are slower due to windy tracks in the Blue Mountains.
