According to reports, the man who continues to hold more than a dozen people hostage in Lindt cafe in Sydney has been identified by police as Man Haron Monis.

A self-described cleric, Man Haron Monis, 50, has had run-ins with the police in the past as well. Monis first came to attention of police when he penned poisonous letters to the family of dead Australian soldiers seven years ago.
