This first installment of 'Mark's Wild Shorts' takes us to the northern areas of Okinawa Island to discover one of the endemic and endangered species to be found on this verdant isle. The Sword Tail Newt can be found in drainage ditches, waterways and streams in the area.
This is my short encounter with them a few nights ago.
