One of my most unexpectedly and enduringly "popular" uploads was the Wii to Wii U transfer videos.

This one's not nearly that interesting, no fun little Pikmin animations and all that.

It's technically not even as flavorful as the 3DS transfer that I used to christen my capture potential there, but it's here.

Upon evaluating my options and the fact that I would obviously have difficulty capturing BOTH sides of a local transfer option at the same time regardless, i chose to go through the longer, more laborious, but potentially more elucidating option: backing up data to Nintendo's server, then immediately redownloading it on the device that's clearly in the same room.

The fact that this process actually holds up for as long as a year of data in escrow (please don't ACTUALLY do that, just be mildly amused that you CAN) means that this video COULD somehow be of interest or "use" to someone, rather than the "well, tell your two Switch siblings to kiss and make up" which would be far more idiot-proofed and hand-hold-y than this.

The time it took to do the extra upload actually gave me time to do stuff like insert that microSD express card and attach a screen protector WITHOUT messing it up. (I'm moderately proud of myself, I only messed up ONCE and the second attempt went off without a hitch! ;3)

... ... ...and then the process told me that I would need to use my old SD card that I was thoroughly told would NOT work on the new hardware if I wanted to transfer my screenshots and clips. D'oh!

The hazard of a hybrid console is also that several steps could only be performed in handheld mode, like the idiot-proofing of the joycon pairing and "teaching" you how to use the eject buttons.

And a few bits that were technically not handheld-dependent... the system just WOULDN'T output to the dock yet. Oh well.

Really, the most annoying and labor intensive factor was redacting the alread-mostly-but-not-really redacted throwaway email they bothered putting onscreen.

Thank goodness the QR codes and PINs issued throughout the process are entirely temporary and expired before the video recording even finished. ;P

Oh well, I guess the old one is now officially a Ring Fit and Labo and WarioWare machine!

... ... ...at least until they declare some kind of killer app that's ONLY made for me, like using the old unit as a second screen for the Super 3DS Player function. (Don't take this delusion from me. I want to believe. :3)
