Swedish climate minister Romina Pourmokhtari brought her three-month-old son to an EU ministers’ meeting in Luxembourg on Thursday, marking a first for the institution.

Pourmokhtari said the moment highlighted how parental leave policies can allow women to balance work and family responsibilities. Her husband, who is currently on leave, traveled with her to care for their son during the meeting.

Sweden offers parents around 16 months of paid leave, including 90 days reserved for each parent to encourage fathers to take time off.
