During a joint press conference with Indian officials in New Delhi this weekend, Secretary of State Marco Rubio responded to a question from a reporter about racist comments toward Indians and Indian Americans from the U.S. by stating that "every country in the world has stupid people."

In April, Trump reposted a lengthy message about birthright citizenship to Truth Social that described India as a "hellhole country."
