A man was shot to death in Hawthorne early today, and at least one person was detained for questioning in connection with the shooting, authorities said.

The victim, who was not identified, was found in the 13000 block of South Prairie Avenue around 1:45 a.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Deputy Kelvin Moody said.
Homicide detectives were sent to investigate the circumstances of the shooting. At least one person was detained for questioning, a deputy said.
