PoliceActivity | Suspect Armed With Gun Shot by LAPD Cop During Foot Pursuit @PoliceActivity | Uploaded July 2024 | Updated October 2024, 5 days ago.

Los Angeles, California — On June 11, 2024, at around 8:50 p.m., Foothill Area uniformed Gang Enforcement Detail officers were patrolling in the area of Lehigh Avenue and Carl Street, when they observed a dark colored sedan travelling at a high rate of speed. The officers followed the vehicle a short distance with the intent on conducting a traffic stop. Moments later, the driver abruptly pulled over and the front passenger, later identified as 21-year-old Alexander Aguilar-Larios, exited armed with a handgun and began running through a housing development.
The officers broadcast they were in foot pursuit as they chased Aguilar-Larios, who eventually stumbled to the ground while holding a handgun in his right hand. As Aguilar-Larios stood up to continuing fleeing, an Officer Involved Shooting occurred. Aguilar-Larios was struck by gunfire and taken into custody. Officers rendered medical aid to Aguilar-Larios until the arrival of Los Angeles Fire Department personnel, who after assuming care, transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later. No officers or other community members were injured during this incident. A 9mm handgun was recovered at scene. The driver of the dark colored sedan fled the scene and has not yet been identified.
