In this wildlife video, take a look at the most uncommon and unusual snake in Costa Rica! While herping, we had a rare, once-in-a-lifetime encounter with a full-grown White-Tailed Hognose Viper (Porthidium porrasi). This is the first adult of this species we have found in years!
Watch as we capture stunning footage of this special snake, highlighting its upturned snout and the distinct white tail, or caudal lure, which it keeps for its entire life. It was a beautiful find and a welcome sight after encountering so many Fer-de-lances. The video also shows my wife, Kate, visiting to see the amazing snake.
