SuperJet Spade | SuperJet Spade's Chiptune Cafe Mini-Jam Extended Spring Break Original and Visual Novel Entries @SuperJet_Spade | Uploaded May 2020 | Updated October 2024, 6 hours ago.
Well isn't that a mouthful of a title for a YouTube video?
Anyway, these are my original and visual novel entries for the Extended Spring Break mini jam held by Pegmode in the Chiptune Cafe server. The system I chose for these categories is the Sega Genesis/MegaDrive . For the visual novel entry, you composed a song based around a character who finds that he has the ability to stop time, and he uses it to rescue his childhood friend. My comments for this song:
Don't Doubt Yourself: This is my original entry. If you're subscribed to my second channel, you'll know that I mentioned somewhere that one of my entries for a CC chip jam got disqualified, which caused me to enter into severe doubts about myself. But, I decided to create this song as a way to power through and not go through a repeat of the same thing that happened to me back in mid-2018. The title of this song is spoken at several points by my former speech synth assistant Peter. The playing of this song on the live stream was also where I heard "SJScore" for the first time.
The Final Homestretch: For my visual novel entry, I thought of a point where the main character (his name is Nobuyuki Shimada) has reached the top of the Anarchy Council's building, and he has to solve puzzles in various rooms before unlocking the door that leads to the final room, where his friend (her name is Hiromi Kuramoto) is being held hostage. One of the members in the CC live stream voice stream mentioned that it wouldn't sound out of place in some game for the PC-98 (a Japanese computer that's known for having visual novel and puzzle games with questionable content). I originally wrote this song for a fan game, but found that it didn't fit the application of where it would be used (a boss fight), so I repurposed it for the visual novel entry and made a new song for the fan game.
There was no voting for this jam, as it was meant to be more relaxed compared to the last jam. I honestly enjoyed it far more than the last jam.
