Long before MeTV Toons or MeTV's Saturday morning cartoon block, and years before MeTV even started, TV Land attempted a retro Saturday morning block in 1999. Entitled "Super Retrovision Saturdaze," this five-hour block was hosted by a 70s-ish bubblegum band "The Saturdaze", accompanied by a Krofft-esque costumed character on rollerskates. But due to licensing issues and partly due to the channel's target audience, they could only show such programming owned by Paramount Global at the time, largely animated adaptations of live-action sitcoms they owned. They played reruns of Filmation's "Mighty Mouse" and "Heckle and Jeckle" revival, "The Brady Kids," "Star Trek: The Animated Series," Rankin-Bass's "The Jackson 5," Hanna-Barbera's "The Harlem Globetrotters" and "The Fonz and the Happy Days Gang," and some Sid and Marty Krofft shows like "H.R. Pufnstuf," "Sigmund and the Sea Monsters" and "The Bugaloos." It lasted from spring 1999 to the end of that year, and it was a pretty good effort for its' time.
