EverythingABC | Super Paper Mario: The Sealed Doors Three (7-2) - 18x "2" Presses @everythingabc3511 | Uploaded 3 years ago | Updated 1 hour ago
We climb through the depths of hell. The hell is all the response prompts.
Video Notes:
7-2 plays exactly the same as a casual run but with Luigi's super jump replacing any jump requirements. Because flipping isn't required for this chapter, we can just use Luigi and not have to worry about swapping characters constantly.
The Underchomp fight is special because it's the only turn-based battle in the game. Like with most menuing, selecting actions requires the "2 button" so defeating the boss in as few actions as possible is key. Luckily, using a Shooting Star ends the fight in just one action and only costs 2x "2 presses", making it the most optimal way to defeat the Underchomp.
While the chapter has many, many prompts, there isn't much to improve besides the two "2 presses" to swap to Luigi at the beginning. All other "2 presses" are the result of dialogue, prompts, keys, and saving. Sequence breaking is the only hope for saving more "2 presses".
2 Presses:
1 - To open the characters menu
2 - To switch to Luigi
3 - To answer Dorguy #1's first question
4 - To answer Dorguy #1's second question
5 - To answer Dorguy #1's third question
6 - To allow access to Bowser
7 - To select the key to the second climbing area
8 - To answer Dorguy #2's first question
9 - To answer Dorguy #2's second question
10 - To answer Dorguy #2's third question
11 - To answer Dorguy #2's fourth question
12 - To answer Dorguy #2's fifth question
13 - To accept Hagra's request
14 - To give the cookbook to Hagra
15 - To select the key to the third climbing area
16 - To select the items option
17 - To use the Shooting Star
18 - To save the game
Challenge Notes:
This is the Super Paper Mario: 2 Button Challenge. The goal of the challenge is to beat Super Paper Mario while pressing the "2 button" as few times as possible. "Beating" Super Paper Mario requires Mario and the other characters to reach the end credits. Any method is allowed.
What does the "2 button" do?
The "2 button" does all of the following:
-Jump
-Swim
-Answer a multiple-choice prompt
-Open the quick menu
-Select any item in a menu
-Enter passwords
Things that look like they need the "2 button" but can be accomplished with other buttons:
-Progress through dialogue ("1 Button")
-Selecting objects with Tippi ("A Button")
-Ground pounding with Thudley ("1 Button")
-Exiting free fall as Luigi ("1 Button")
Each video is only a segment of the larger run and does not consider individual level high scores. This means that the "2 press" count for the segment may not be the lowest "2 press" count possible if considered in isolation. However, the "2 press" count showcased in the video is the lowest "2 press" count with the full game in mind. This also means that each video should link seamlessly to the next video chronologically (more or less). Because we are looking at the full game, we also count any save prompts that appear after the chapter is over.
If you have any further questions, post them in the comment section and I'll try to get back to you.
