Hello! And welcome to the Super Mario 3D World Minimal Jump Challenge! This is very similar to pannenkoek's Super Mario 64 A Button Challenge in which he goes through the game pressing the A button as few times as possible. The only difference is that the A button can be held, and A presses to advance menu options or entering levels are not counted. After unlocking our final Pixl, we have a blast trying to manage our Pixl swaps!
Video Notes:
You might be wondering why I do not use Thudley for the first part of this segment. That is because I need to use Cudge twice to break open the two Cudge blocks to the heart pillar. Thudley would be able to cross most of the obstacles without needing to press 2, but switching to Thudley then back to Cudge would cost 4x 2 presses, and switching to Thudley would only save 3x 2 presses, so that route is suboptimal. This is why I need two Life Shrooms. Because I do not have Thudley as my active pixl, I cannot Thudley Jump, so I farmed for two Life Shrooms in 4-2 to perform two LSJs to navigate to the heart pillar in the fewest number of 2 presses. Once I break both Cudge blocks, however, I then switch back to Thudley and continue the segment as how you may expect.
2 Presses:
1 - To open the pixls menu
2 - To switch to Cudge
3 - To jump to the pipe that leads to first floor Flopside
4 - To jump high in the air to set up the LSJ
5 - To LSJ over the pillar
6 - To LSJ over to the Cudge block and heart pillar
7 - To open the pixls menu
8 - To switch to Thudley
9 - To TJ back over the pillar

This is the Super Paper Mario: 2 Button Challenge. The goal of the challenge is to beat Super Paper Mario while pressing the 2 button as few times as possible. Beating Super Paper Mario requires Mario and the other characters to reach the end credits. Any method is allowed.
What does the 2 button do?
The 2 button does all of the following:

-Swim
-Answer a multiple-choice prompt
-Open the quick menu
-Select any item in a menu
-Enter passwords
Things that look like they need the 2 button but can be accomplished with other buttons:
-Progress through dialogue (1 Button)
-Selecting objects with Tippi (A Button)
-Ground pounding with Thudley (1 Button)
-Exiting free fall as Luigi (1 Button)
Each video is only a segment of the larger run and does not consider individual level high scores. This means that the 2 press count for the segment may not be the lowest 2 press count possible if considered in isolation. However, the 2 press count showcased in the video is the lowest 2 press count with the full game in mind. This also means that each video should link seamlessly to the next video chronologically (more or less). Who needs minecarts when you have legs of steel?
Video Notes:
5-3 is split into four main segments. The first segment is to find the camera guy. This segment is straightforward but we do not ride the minecart. This is because I need to press 2 to confirm the minecart ride and press 2 again after the minecart ride to recover from the knockback at the end. This is why I forgo the minecart, even though I need to thudley jump over the rails.
The second segment is a lot more interesting. To get the mic man, I need to go across the tracks, but this time large stalactites block Mario from trespassing without the minecart. So I simply just ride the minecart both ways. Getting to the mic man involves some clever positioning of the headless Floro Sapiens. I visit the room twice, once to activate the ladder block and the second to actually get to the mic man. This is because I need to reload the enemies to successfully navigate the room.
The third segment is to get back to Flint Cragley after retrieving his crew. I get poisoned along the way, which is very intentional. This is because I need to bounce off of a buzzy beetle that falls from the ceiling. Normally, a grounded Thudley jump doesnt bring Mario far enough horizontally to make the gap, but with a well-timed poison damage to cancel the ground pound, Mario can make it to the buzzy beetle.
The last segment is straightforward and doesnt require any further explanation, though I do end the chapter with Cudge as I do not need Thudley at the start of 5-4. So even though I need to jump into the star block, the lack of a pixl swap makes this route optimal.

This video introduces a new problem, switching characters. To switch characters, you need to first open up the quick menu (or open the main menu using + then selecting characters) and then choose the character you want to switch to. This takes 2x 2 Presses. Therefore, we need to switch characters as few times as possible. Luckily, there are plenty of glitches and exploits to prevent changing characters.
This chapter features very few glitches, but it does exploit a weird quirk where transitional planes act differently than a death plane. Here, we make use of the pit that leads you to a secret area. The weird quirk allows us to throw an enemy into the pit and bounce off of it (as it doesnt despawn when touching the transitional plane). This alone doesnt give us the height needed to cross the pit, but, with a well-timed damage boost, we can successfully cross the pit.
This video was made before showing setup 2 presses. This video requires us to have a fire burst in our inventory to cook into the spicy soup. We can get this fire burst from Bestoviouss house in 0x 2 presses.
2 Presses:
1 - To select the fire burst for cooking
2 - To confirm the fire burst selection
3 - To give the spicy soup to Peach
4 - To open the quick menu
5 - To switch to Mario
6 - To select the old key to unlock the outskirts area of Flipside

Chapter 2-1 introduces an interesting mechanic that may not see much use outside of this chapter: the return pipe. I use the return pipe to prevent backtracking through 2 press heavy areas. Here, I avoid needing to platform back through the background by going back to Flipside and re-entering Chapter 2-1. The reason why I dont use the return pipe more often is the 2 press cost. Using the return pipe takes 3x 2 presses which isnt ideal. However, in this situation, the 3x 2 press cost along with the extra 2 press needed to progress back to where I need to outweigh the 7x 2 presses needed to backtrack through the background.
I also perform a Life Shroom Jump (LSJ) to skip Boomer. When recovering with a life shroom, theres a one-frame window at the end of the animation to jump or flip midair; acting as a double jump. Here, I use this double jump to cheese the underground section by going through the section in reverse, and pre-maturely solving the puzzle which skips the need to get Boomer.
This video features a pixl skip (Boomer in this case). Boomer is one of 5 pixls that are skippable in Super Paper Mario. This is because if we manage to beat the intended chapter without gaining the pixl, the game gives the pixl to you after the chapter is over in a short dialogue sequence.
This video was made before showing setup 2 presses. This video requires us to have a life shroom in our inventory to perform the LSJ that skips Boomer. We get this life shroom in 1-4 in 1x additional 2 press which technically means that this chapter takes 20x 2 presses.
