Video Notes:
This video introduces a new problem, switching characters. To switch characters, you need to first open up the quick menu (or open the main menu using + then selecting characters) and then choose the character you want to switch to. This takes 2x 2 Presses. Therefore, we need to switch characters as few times as possible. Luckily, there are plenty of glitches and exploits to prevent changing characters.
This chapter features very few glitches, but it does exploit a weird quirk where transitional planes act differently than a death plane. Here, we make use of the pit that leads you to a secret area. The weird quirk allows us to throw an enemy into the pit and bounce off of it (as it doesnt despawn when touching the transitional plane). This alone doesnt give us the height needed to cross the pit, but, with a well-timed damage boost, we can successfully cross the pit.
This video was made before showing setup 2 presses. This video requires us to have a fire burst in our inventory to cook into the spicy soup. We can get this fire burst from Bestoviouss house in 0x 2 presses.

Chapter 2-1 introduces an interesting mechanic that may not see much use outside of this chapter: the return pipe. I use the return pipe to prevent backtracking through 2 press heavy areas. Here, I avoid needing to platform back through the background by going back to Flipside and re-entering Chapter 2-1. The reason why I dont use the return pipe more often is the 2 press cost. Using the return pipe takes 3x 2 presses which isnt ideal. However, in this situation, the 3x 2 press cost along with the extra 2 press needed to progress back to where I need to outweigh the 7x 2 presses needed to backtrack through the background.
I also perform a Life Shroom Jump (LSJ) to skip Boomer. When recovering with a life shroom, theres a one-frame window at the end of the animation to jump or flip midair; acting as a double jump. Here, I use this double jump to cheese the underground section by going through the section in reverse, and pre-maturely solving the puzzle which skips the need to get Boomer.
This video features a pixl skip (Boomer in this case). Boomer is one of 5 pixls that are skippable in Super Paper Mario. This is because if we manage to beat the intended chapter without gaining the pixl, the game gives the pixl to you after the chapter is over in a short dialogue sequence.
This video was made before showing setup 2 presses. This video requires us to have a life shroom in our inventory to perform the LSJ that skips Boomer. We get this life shroom in 1-4 in 1x additional 2 press which technically means that this chapter takes 20x 2 presses.

Now that were back on the ground, and with very low gravity, we can start pulling off some complex tricks. Firstly, this is a good time to introduce a new mechanic, Thudley Hovers (as if Thudley wasnt broken enough). By repeatedly starting and canceling ground pounds with Thudley, we could decrease our gravity and cross larger distances with Thudley. We first use this to reach the outhouses roof from the starting area. Well use this many, many more times throughout the run so be on the lookout.
The second thing to introduce is the corner clip. By positioning Mario into the right part of any corner while falling, we could clip out of bounds. We use this in the second room to go around the first large mountain without needing to switch to Slim, saving 3x 2 presses. Corner clips dont show up that often due to the need to crouch jump which is a 1x 2 press cost.
Lastly, we use our good friend the Megabite a few times throughout the level. Like previous times, we use the Megabite to repeatedly bounce across large gaps and scale large heights. Note that we cannot summon the Megabite in the first room until we are a certain ways into the level, which is why we dont use a Megabite to cross the first gap 2 pressless.
As a final note, we do not switch back to Thudley after unlocking Fleep as we will need to use Fleep at the start of 4-3. So not switching saves us 4x 2 presses in total, even though traversing the final area with Fleep adds on 2x 2 presses.

Once again, this chapter is very short if you know the solution to the chapter. Here, we can skip the entirety of the chapter by pre-emptively knowing the password to the 1 million ruby vault. One thing to note is that we cannot just grind the ruby rooms for 1 million rubies to pay off the debt. This is because theres a cap of 18000 rubies for each run-through of the VIP room. Each time, we need to press 2 to initiate a run-through, which easily negates any 2 press saves by beating the chapter this way.

This video is an improvement from my last video on Chapter 3-1 where I completed the chapter in 7x 2 Presses. You can find the video here: https://youtu.be/_7DTk_XnUoE
Since then, I was able to reroute the game to remove the Boomer swap originally present in this segment. Due to leaving Post Chapter 2 with Boomer, we can play through the entire segment without needing to switch Pixls, saving 2x 2 presses. In addition, I make use of a HBB to climb the first castle. Theres a chance that I could use a second HBB to cross the underground pit, but I would need one more HP than I currently have to pull that strategy off.
Aside from the new discoveries, Chapter 3-1 is quite simple due to its short length. Theres a special case after the underground section where using a convenient hole in 3D allows Mario to bounce off of the soccer shells and, by using careful navigation, allows Mario to clear the hard blocks at the start of the third section. From there, a few bullet bill bounces clear the rest of the level.
This video features a modified view (at 6:17) to help better visualize the home buffer bounces. This modified view edits out the home menus for a more fluid viewing experience.
