This is my guide for the Yoshi Skip trick in Pianta Village episode 5.
Here's what you have to watch out for in written form:
Step 1: Find a camera angle and a position for Mario that makes you clip into the tree reliably. What I like doing is to first position my camera straight, then give it a bit of an angle. After that, I go to the middle of the circle on the ground and a tad to the right of it to clip. It works pretty well, though it's also somewhat precise.
I encourage everybody who wants to try this trick himself/herself to experiment with camera angles and positions. Different setups work for different people. I just wanted to give you guys a general idea with my setup.
Step 2: Once you think your position is good, press L to to be able to sidestep (must be done when equipped with spray nozzle) and then get ready to fall (switch to Hover Nozzle after going into sidestepping mode !)
Now watch out for this essential thing: Even when you fall, keep holding left on your control stick. That way, you'll avoid grabbing the ledge for sure and secondly, you'll be able to barely hover into the loading zone if you start hovering slightly too late.
Step 3: As for the moment when you have to start hovering, there is sadly no visual cue (or at least I see nothing you could watch out for). I just kinda start hovering once I am below the ledge. Mostly, I just trust my gut feeling really. That sounds very unreliable, but it actually kinda works. I would recommend practising the hover a couple of times to get a feelig for it too. Also, you can watch this video to get an idea of the timing: youtube.com/watch?v=2hjI1T3C5S0
That is pretty much everything I know. I hope I could give you guys some good advice on this. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to tell me in the comments.
Enjoy.
