Player graphic: My Melody

Back at SMBR, to showcase player mods at this point. This one caught my attention as I did that one romhack featuring My Melody in 2023, so of course I had to showcase her, and uh, I have some stuff to say.

First: The engine apparently got a rework, now the classic physics are closer to the NES ones and I kinda feel it, but also I kinda don't. The player feels heavy but you get used to it, the jump from the side to a corner kinda doesn't work as you get pushed down instead of standing on the very edge of the corner, it's not a big deal but it's something that buged me, now, it may be a thing on the NES for all I know but eh. Another thing I noticed, when breaking or bumping a block from below, this won't kill/flip an enemy, a weird one because this one I am sure should be the case or the OG but it's not here.

The player: Directly from Mario Maker 1, this sprite is kinda... jank, you see, the graphic doesn't have a proper "Big" variant of the sprite, even I ran into that problem when I did the My Melody hack, and this mod ran into that as well, the big sprite collision is more big than the graphic, making some funky looking situations. The star palette is nonexistent, you won't flash lie you should when grabbing a star, maing this kinda lame.

To conclude, this player mod is neat but it needed some polishing, but I know this was an inevitable side effect since Mario Maer works differently than this, I should know, but that's really it.
Like I said, at this point I'm showcasing some shit I find interesting, which speaking of, there's a chunky one coming up next video, something that I was notified about and had to see it for myself
