A playthrough of the demo for Super Farming Boy, where a magical capitalist creature kidnaps your mom and friends, steals your crops, and taxes you into financial oblivion. Instead of playing things out in court you decide to play their game and harvest crops to buy your mom and friends back.
The gameplay premise is pretty neat in that harvesting a crop will trigger other tiles and if done correctly you can set up some impressive chain reactions and combos. I don't even build as much combo crops as possible and make tons of money.
There's also supposed to be boss fights but the demo ends without any such content so not sure how that'll play out. It's pretty promising so far.
There's a few criticisms but they're more quibbles/QoL concerns. Being able to upgrade the watering can or your watering friend would be nice, stamina management becomes trivial very quickly, and there doesn't appear to be a cutoff point for where you must sleep (so if you set things up you would almost never need to sleep), although in the late night enemies spawn that will KO you if you collide with them. As well, one-time crops are pretty inferior to crops that regrow especially for setting up combos.
