Powered primariily by a heady mix enthusiasm and positivity, Adam Angelo (Adamski A) has single-handedly developed two of the most exciting mono-synths I've heard in recent times. As a young DJ on the millenial wave of London-based pirate stations, he was as happy making tracks throughout the Rave, Jungle and the DB scene as he was spinning them, but a love of the synth-pop sounds he'd heard as a child has been with him throughout his career.
Around 2016, looking to expand his studio and frustrated with the options available, he decided to design and build his own synth. Over the next five years, armed only with a extensive playlist of YouTube videos and some vintage synth books his concept gradually took shape, morphing into the Ad-Vantage 03m: a three-oscillator mono-synth with a bass response solid enough to shake down an array of allotment greenhouses at fifty paces. With the volume set to 4.
A smaller version - the 02m - followed, and both models are now prototyped in readiness for production, which is where our Sunday chat picks up the story.
