Since August 6, summit tilt has climbed +12 microrads at Uēkahuna, and low-frequency tremor bursts continue, a sign of classic gas pistoning, where magma shifts inside the system and vents gas in rhythmic bursts. It’s part of the recharge process inside the caldera, where pressure builds until the next release. Based on past patterns, that could happen as soon as late this week or sometime the week of August 17. This pattern has preceded past eruptions, but timing is never certain.
