It's easy to knock yourself out, playing solo in your living room, but it’s a whole different challenge to play in a band. My mentor would remind us of this at every Big Band rehearsal—and he was absolutely right! Playing in a group is nothing like playing alone; it requires the ability to blend in and support the ensemble. While this demands discipline, it can also be incredible fun!
Duet playing is the smallest form of ensemble performance, where every musical element is magnified.
