Welcome back to the workshop! Today I’ll show you the projects that I’m working on for the Summer schedule. I’ll also introduce you to the DroneBot Workshop Forums!

It’s Summer and I’m back in the workshop and working on LOTS of things. Today I’ll show you the components that we’ll be covering on the channel over the next couple of months.

But before I get started I want to invite you to join the NEW DroneBot Workshop Forums. The forums are a new feature and already we are having some great discussion threads on every aspect of DIY electronics, IoT, Robotics, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and so many other topics.

Head over the forum right now at forum.dronebotworkshop.com and join the party!

Back on the workbench, I have some interesting components to show you, including:

Touchscreen Displays - I have actually got three of these. An inexpensive resistive display for the Arduino, another one for the Raspberry Pi and a high-quality capacitive touchscreen shield for the Arduino. We’ll be looking at all of these, starting next week.

eInk Display - I have a 2-color eInk display that can be used either as a Raspberry Pi HAT or as an Arduino module.

OpenMV Camera - This is a camera with an onboard video processor and microcontroller. A bit like the PixyCam, but more powerful.

Sparkfun Apollo Blue - This advanced IoT processor has Tensorflow embedded in it. At 15 dollars it’s a cheap AI device with a lot of potential. It even does voice recognition without any Internet connection.

NV Memory - I'll show you how to add EEPROM to your Arduino to store settings and preserve them, even without power.

Current Sensor - A device to sense (what else?) current. Use it for monitoring power drain in your designs.

QI Charging Receiver - We’ll use this to build a wireless charger.
Hall Effect Switches & Magnets - I’m going to go back to the stepper motor, this time to add limit and reference switches using Hall Effect devices and magnets.

Relay Module - We’ll see how to safely use relay modules to control devices with our microcontrollers.

Fingerprint Sensor - I’m experimenting with a cheap fingerprint sensor that you can use to secure your projects.

Feedback Servo Motor - A servo motor with an output from its internal position sensor. Let's you precisely control motor position.

Peltier Effect Cooler - This large monstrosity is available on eBay. I’m going to see if I can cool my desk with it this summer.

In addition to the stuff on the workbench, we’ll be continuing with the I2C series, as well as with the NVIDIA Jetson Nano.

I'll also show you how to safely build an inexpensive variable power supply for your workbench.

And, of course, I’ll still be working on the DB1 robot project.

So as you can see, there is a LOT happening in the workshop this summer. So if you haven’t subscribed to the channel please do so - that way you won’t miss anything.

And please join everyone on the DroneBot Workshop forum, I’m looking forward to chatting with you there. Just go to forum.dronebotworkshop.com , click the Register button and sign up.

Welcome back to the Workshop!
