Sugarfoot Rag is a guitar instrumental by Hank Garland from the 1950's, now widely played as a fiddle tune. In this lesson I show three versions. Firstly a bluegrass version as played by Chubby Wise in 1970. Secondly a western swing version based on the playing of Tommy Jackson with Red Foley. And finally a slower, more funky version based on the rendition from Casey Driessen, with some gratuitous chopping and scat singing.
A pdf of all three versions is available free to subscribers (see below). There are plenty more free video lessons on bluegrass and western swing instrumentals and techniques elsewhere on The Fiddle Channel.
