The Succeed With LEED Series offers a way to understand the LEED Rating system through the lens of a particular construction, design, operations, and sustainability topic. The series highlights prerequisites and credits available within a given topic. How to achieve them, document them, and what to look out for.
While many topics will apply to all LEED rating systems, we mostly focus on LEED Residential for single-family, multifamily, midrise, and mixed-use buildings.
In this Succeed with LEED session, we will focus on the challenges and opportunities for improving our existing housing stock and what needs to be done to achieve LEED certification.
Whether you are doing an alternative green building certification program or just looking for tips on building more sustainable, you do not have to be focused on LEED to benefit from and join in this conversation!

Lessons Learned
1. Review the LEED BD+C V4 Homes (and Residential v4.1) Prerequisite Minumum Energy Performance requirements that are both a major barrier and benefit to LEED renovations.
2. Understand the benefits of renovations under the LEED BD+C V4 Homes (and Residential v4.1) Materials and Resources Environmentally Preferable Products.
3. Articulate how durability features and moisture management can be a challenge and opportunity under LEED BD+C V4 Homes (and Residential v4.1) Materials and Resources Durability Management.
4. Analyze the additional sustainability goals needed to improve. Occupant health, safety, and welfare in housing renovations and determine the best, most cost-effective approaches.
